Water Main Work Update
January 14, 2021 - Stephen Rafferty, Water Superintendent
Water main construction will continue through the end of January and into early February.
The Contractor is installing house services – 1 inch and 2 inch diameter - this week. Next week they are working on MLK Day as well as the rest of the week.
Tuesday they are scheduled to tie the 16 inch main into the existing main at Nye Road. This will require a detour of Main Street from King Street to Scranton Avenue for Tuesday. Otherwise detours will be Nye Street to Scranton Avenue or Scranton Avenue to Falmouth Heights depending on where they are working. The trench is compacted and backfilled with dense grade at the end of each day.
Fridays are set to pave the trenches and do general clean up of the work area. Once all the services, fire services and the tie ins of Nye Street and Scranton Avenue are completed – the second half of February, March, and the first half of April – no work will be occurring.
Mid April we will mill and pave from Shore Street to Davis Straits and do final sidewalk, curbing, and loaming and seeding.
