or

The clock is ticking! Compliance must be achieved by 03/01/10. The recent cases of identity theft spurred the State to pass a new law requiring the protection of personal information. The law applies to any person (including businesses and employers) who "own, license, store or maintain personal information about a resident of Massachusetts."
Foley & Foley, PC, the local employment law resource for Falmouth, the Cape and Islands, will conduct a workshop explaining this new workplace obligation. The program will include:
Practical advice on what this means for you and your company;
An explanation of personal information;
An explanation of the encryption requirements;
An overview of the elements of the required written information security program;
An assessment of system security requirements.
Businesses that fail to comply with this new Regulation will be subject to civil and potential criminal penalties. Employers also have an obligation to ensure that any individual that comes in contact with personal information must understand their policy and the law.
We encourage all governed by this new law to attend:
Attendees will also receive the 2010 edition of "The Employer’s Guide to Understanding Massachusetts Workplace Law" published by Foley & Foley, PC (www.foleylawpractice.com).
