Ivy & Bean Author to Visit
Author Annie Barrows will visit Cape Cod on Tuesday, May 13, hosted by Eight Cousins Bookstore. Best known to children ages 7-10 for her Ivy and Bean books, Ms. Barrows will visit Marstons Mills Elementary School in the morning, and meet the public at Eight Cousins after school in the afternoon.
Ivy and Bean, Ivy and Bean and the Ghost That Had to Go, Ivy and Bean Break the Fossil Record, are stories about two mischievous but well-meaning buddies. The brand- new fourth book in the series, Ivy and Bean Take Care of the Babysitter, is a tale of Bean’s disgust that her 11-year-old sister Nancy is babysitting her for the afternoon, and Bean’s enlistment of Ivy to plan an elaborate, if unnecessary, escape. With numerous illustrations by Sophie Blackall and funny adventures, the book’s appeal is similar to that of the very popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
In addition to being a popular children’s writer, Annie Barrows is also the editor who discovered Michael Chabon, and the co-author of an adult title, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, written with Mary Ann Fiery Shaffer, which will appear in July.
