VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: ONE DAY PROJECT
May 18
Cape & Islands United Way

Description:
On Sunday, May 18th, from noon till five p.m., The Cape and Islands United Way is helping to organize a CLEAN UP/PAINTING/YARDWORK SPRING VOLUNTEER DAY. Five hours to change an environment that changes lives – how’s that for a great opportunity for a Sunday afternoon?
Will you help? We’re looking for willing hands who can paint, rake, sand and perform other get-our-hands-dirty chores to help Gosnold’s Miller House be a bit more welcoming for residents.
What’s Miller House?
Miller House is Gosnold’s nonprofit residential program for men in early recovery from addiction and alcoholism. The average stay at Miller House is 45 to 120 days, which ensures development of life skills and coping strategies necessary for maintaining abstinence. Twelve step concepts are integrated with group therapy principles to create a dynamic, effective change process. A program of therapy, addiction education and life skills training is designed to meet the needs of men during early recovery. 150 men each year benefit from a stay at Miller House, and now The Cape and Islands United Way and the Falmouth community have a chance to support this fine work by donating five hours of our time.
To participate, please send the form below back to us via email (scan and send to: DiscoverNE@aol.com), or mail to Sarah Mann, United Way Cares About Miller House Day, 21 Pearl Lane, East Falmouth, MA 02536.) Details will be sent to you, along with information concerning registration – the when and where – as the time gets closer. There will be a reception at the end of the day, provided by Gosnold/Miller House to celebrate the success of the project.
Can’t come but want to donate? We’ll need gallons and gallons of paint, ladders, rakes, plants, mulch, sanders, scrapers and lots of other supplies to get this job done in one busy afternoon. Email Sarah (a United Way board member) at the address above, and she’ll pick up your donated items or contact her for a detailed list. Checks are welcome too; just make them out to the Cape & Islands United Way and send along to the same address.
