There is great variety in the eight properties that will be open to view and admire on this year’s tour as this year there will be commercial as well as residential properties, all creatively decorated for the holidays. The theme this year is history as the places to be visited represent buildings constructed throughout the history of the Town of Falmouth. The Bowerman Homestead was built in 17th century, the Blacksmith Shop at C.H. Newton Builders in the 18th century, the Beach Rose Inn in the 19th aacentury, the offices of C. H. Newton in the early 20th century, and three recently built homes in West Falmouth, the Hickey, Nehro and Millisor homes, in the 21st century that allude to earlier architectural styles. The history of two tour stops will be interpreted by appropriately costumed role-playing courtesy of the Falmouth Historical Society. In addition to the wonderfully crafted decorations at the West Falmouth Library Boutique, an extensive display of quilts will be on view at the Hickey home. There will be live seasonal music at the offices of C.H. Newton and a hand crafted Victorian styled dollhouse at the Sotheby’s International Realty office that will be a prize in a drawing. So come and enjoy holiday decorations, crafts, music, history, food, and a chance to win a dollhouse for someone special.

The West Falmouth Library will be open throughout the tour with complimentary light refreshments available to tour-goers. The Holiday Boutique will open at 12:00 pm in the library’s Community Room, and will feature unique, hand-made gift items. Regular favorites such as treasure wreaths, everlasting tabletop shell trees and arrangements, as well as live arrangements for the mantle, tabletop, door and front steps will make for fun holiday shopping.

The Holiday House Tour & Boutique is the largest annual fundraiser held by the West Falmouth Library. “In its 32nd year, we continue to be excited at the variety of interesting homes in our area.
It is fun to be able to celebrate the season and share them with our supporters, said Reta King, President of the West Falmouth Library’s Board of Directors. “Hundreds of volunteers and community members make this event successful year after year, and we are extremely grateful for their continued support and participation!”
