17th Annual Woods Hole Film Festival to Feature Favorite Returning Filmmakers

WOODS HOLE, MA–The Woods Hole Film Festival, which showcases and promotes the work of independent emerging filmmakers from New England and beyond, celebrates its 17th year when it begins on Saturday, July 26, with the screening of SIZZLE a new film by Randy Olson (FLOCK DODOS) and ends on Saturday, August 2, with the closing night film THE FLYBOYS by Rocco DeVillers. In addition to a large number of New England filmmakers, this year’s roster of films also includes an impressive number by filmmakers from around the world, as well as a large number of films by alumni filmmakers from previous years.

The festival features 110 films in all: 36 feature length narrative films and documentaries and 7 short film programs, including several short films paired with feature length films. There are also panels, master classes, and great parties hosted by venues throughout Woods Hole. Attendees can once again plan their own personalized schedule, as well as have the ability to rate and comment on the films they’ve seen through the B-Side online community

Screenings take place at: the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution’s Redfield Auditorium (Corner of School Street and Water Street), Old Woods Hole Fire Station (Water Street), the Marine Biological Laboratory’s Lillie Auditorium (MBL Street), Coffee Obsession 2, Pie in the Sky and Waterfront Park. Readings, panels and master classes take place at the Woods Hole Community Hall (68 Water Street) and the Old Woods Hole Fire Station.

Individual tickets are $10.00 for screenings, $10.00 for staged reading, panels and parties ($2 off for students and seniors, children under 12; $1 off for cardholding WGBH members for screenings). Weekend passes are $90, which includes admission to all screenings, special events, and parties during the chosen weekend. (Saturday, July 26, through Monday, July 28 or Thursday, July 31, through Saturday, August 2). Purchase all tickets online at www.woodsholefilmfestival.org or www.ticketweb.com or by mail and walk in at the festival headquarters at 87B Water Street (upstairs from the Woods Hole Market), the Old Woods Hole Fire Station on Water Street, and at the door of each screening, event or party.

Festival passes, which include admission to all festival events, are $250. To purchase send a check with name, address, phone, and email address to Woods Hole Film Festival, P.O. Box 624, Woods Hole, MA 02543, indicating the user of each pass. Passes will be held for pickup during the festival at the Old Woods Hole Fire Station, where they will also be for sale during the festival.
