FALMOUTH VILLAGE JUNE & JULY EVENTS FEATURE MUSIC, ARTS, CRAFTS AND UNCLE SAM
From music on the green to music and arts in the streets, Falmouth Village comes alive with local talent

From the Queens Buyway at North Main Street and down Falmouth Village’s Main Street to Depot Avenue, businesses in Falmouth Village will celebrate the spirit of Cape Cod with a focus on music and arts in June and July. Throughout the year, a number of family-friendly events are held to commemorate the seasons and help travelers enjoy a great reason to visit the Upper Cape. Look forward to these three events, designed to enhance a shop, play, pamper and stay trip to Falmouth Village, MA.

Arts Alive 2014The Arts Alive Festival 14, June 20-22, 2014: Presented by ArtsFalmouth, this music-filled weekend opens with a town dance on the Falmouth Library Lawn in the center of Falmouth Village. The dance kicks off three days of free arts festival events with 50+ performers of music, dance, theater, and spoken word, under three large tents on the Library Lawn and a special tent for arts activities for the young. You’ll find everything from belly dancing to storytelling, rockfests, classical music and more. There’s certainly something for every taste, every day! Exhibits and Cape Cod artists and craftspeople offering their works for sale will also be on hand. And in-between, visit Falmouth Village’s independently owned shops, spas, restaurants, museums, inns and B&Bs and businesses, offering Arts Alive specials and tie-ins for the weekend.

Bike Parade 2014July 4th Bike & Carriage Parade, July 4, 2014: One of Cape Cod’s largest July 4th parades, hundreds of Moms and Dads will bring the kids, wagons, strollers and bikes to participate in the kind of parade parents remember having when they were kids! Participants will gather at St. Barnabas Church (Parking Lot) at 10:00am for a good ol’ fashioned bike parade down Main Street from the Village Green to the Mullen Hall School. Red, white and blue costumes and hats are encouraged, and this might just be the largest collection of Uncle Sam dressed celebrants anywhere in New England! In fact, Uncle Sam will lead off the parade. Each year a bike raffle is sponsored by the Falmouth Elks Local #2380, and snacks will be provided. So grab a flag and deck the stroller, wagon, bike, kids and adults in Americana red, white and blue and join the fun for a huge July 4th parade sponsored by the Falmouth Village Association. Afterward, visit Falmouth Village shops, restaurants and businesses for red, white and blue specials! With July 4th on a Friday, this is the ideal time to make a weekend visit to Falmouth Village, MA! (Note: Parade is weather dependent. No rain date).

Village Association Street Fair 2014Falmouth Village Association Professional Arts & Crafts Street Festival, Wednesday, July 9, 2014: Held each year on the second Wednesday in July (July 9, 2014),Falmouth Village Association brings in 200 professional crafters and artists to set up shop along Main Street in Falmouth Village from Post Office Road to Shore Street for one day. It’s Christmas in July, when crafters from throughout New England gather in Falmouth Village for a shopping spree like no other. Plan on everything from fiber arts to pottery, soaps, specialty foods, apparel, jewelry and much more, all locally made from professional New England artists. Plus, Falmouth Village shops, restaurants, spas, and businesses will all be open with their own eclectic offerings too! If you wish to shop locally, this is the perfect day! From New England-made crafts to independently owned businesses, plan your Christmas in July shopping trip to include the Professional Arts & Crafts Street Festival in Falmouth Village, July 9th. Also no visit to Falmouth Village this summer will be complete without a trip to Highfield Hall’s fabulous summer exhibit on display June 29-September 7.

Portals & Passageways Highfield 2014Portals and Passageways: A Cape Cod Environmental Art and Sculpture Exhibition at Highfield Hall & Gardens: This unusual show features the work of 25 regional artists who are creating artworks utilizing Highfield Hall’s building, grounds and gardens, and the adjacent Beebe Woods surrounding the property on display, June 29-September 7. The installations will include temporary environmental works as well as more permanent sculptures that Highfield began installing earlier this spring. The artists creating works for the show span many disciplines including sculpture, fiber art, landscape design, glass blowing, painting and photography. The exhibition is a walking tour that begins inside the mansion and continues throughout the grounds. . The exhibition will offer visitors a chance to participate in passageways that will guide them in and through to an unexpected place and portals that will offer the visitor an opportunity to explore a different point of view. The artworks will encourage contemplation and discovery. The exhibition is supported by the Lovell Charitable Foundation and is designed with families in mind. A keepsake map and guidebook to the art and artists is included with the admission price of $5.00. The show is curated by Annie Dean, Highfield’s Director of Programs and Exhibitions. Highfield Family DayAdditionally, join Highfield Hall & Gardens for Family Night with Wayne Potash and His Music Fun Band on Wednesday, July 16, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Hang out the lawn with your picnic starting at 5:00 pm, or enjoy snacks from on-site food vendors. The entertainment with Parent’ Choice Award winner and family favorite singer-songwriter Wayne Potash starts at 5:30 pm. There will be crafts and activities for children, kazoos and face painting and an old fashioned good time! Donations welcomed.
